昨日発売になった音元出版の季刊「オーディオアクセサリー」152号には、私もいろいろ執筆させてもらっています。わが家にも昨日見本誌が届いたんですが、1件ちょっと困った誤植があるもので、この欄で訂正をしたいと思います。
193ページの上段、光城精工のアクセサリーで、SOLDERLESS CABLE KITという製品を私が紹介しています。本文下段の4～5行目、「挿し込む際にはネジをしっかり締めておくことに気をつけるくらいか」となっていますが、あそこでネジを締めちゃったらケーブルが組み付けられません。「しっかり緩めておくこと」に気をつけなければならないのです。

結構注目されているキットですからもうお手元へ導入された人も多いのではないかと推測します。そういう人ならすぐお分かりになるかと思いますが、あのキットはケーブルを必要な長さに切り、芯線処理を何もせずにプラグの根元へ圧し込んでやるだけでプラグと芯線が導通する仕掛けです。で、挿し込んだケーブルが抜けないようにするため締めネジがプラグに装着されている、と。
そうやって精度良く導通を可能にするため、プラグの穴はケーブルの口径ギリギリにあけられています。それで、締めネジを十分に緩めておかないとケーブルの被覆と干渉して上手く圧し込めなかったり、被覆にしわが寄ってしまったりしがちなのです。何のことはない、私が1本目でそれをやっちゃったのですね。
私も元・編集者ですから、雑誌の誤植は校了までどんなに頑張って目を皿にしても、刷り上ってきた見本誌をパラパラと読んで「うわっ！」と顔から火が出る思いをしたことが数え切れないほどあります。読者の皆さんへは言い訳に聞こえてしまうかもしれませんが、書物にしろ雑誌にしろこのブログを含むウェブ記事にしろ、文字を大量に集積したものにとって本質的に誤植は避けられないものだと思っています。
しかし、今回の間違いはあまりにも悪いところをピンポイントで突いてしまいました。あの記事をお読みになって製品を購入された人が、記事の通りに組み立てようとしたら絶対に組み上がらないんですからね。いやはや、申し訳ありません。
